Autocraft was established in 1958 and has been innovating in the manufacturing space ever since. FlexCheck, a collaborative robot vision inspection system, is error proofing and automating the door handle selection process for an automotive OEM. FlexCheck picks from 594 unique multi-color door handles and sequences them to the assembly line. Operators receive color specific door handles that match the color of the vehicle indexing into their workstation for assembly. Autocraft Receives 2016 Performance Excellence Award from Honda
Autocraft is proud to announce that it’s a recipient of the Honda 2016 Performance Excellence Award for the design, fabrication, and installation of material handling solutions for the company’s Ohio automotive assembly operations.
American Honda Motor Company, Inc. awarded just 25 suppliers from a pool of more than 5,000 that provide the equipment and services to support the company’s North America operations. The Performance Excellence Award recognizes Autocraft for exceeding expectations with respect to customer service, cost, and quality.
“Our team is immensely proud to be recognized by Honda for the partnership that we’ve built,” said Daniel Burseth, General Manager of Autocraft. “We are excited to continue to deliver best-in-class material handling solutions and facility support to the Honda team as we’ve done for the last 11 years.”
Under the leadership of Brad Paquin, Program Manager, the Autocraft suite of autonomous material handling solutions will contribute to the production of the Acura MDX, Honda CR-V, and other models at Honda’s facility in East Liberty, Ohio. “Honda’s Flexible Manufacturing System allows their operations to quickly and efficiently optimize production,” said Paquin. “The Autocraft engineering and production teams are proud to serve Honda and support their strategic initiatives.”
American Honda Motor Company, Inc. produced more than 6 million vehicles, power equipment products, and recreational motor vehicles in the U.S. in 2015. More than 99% of the Honda and Acura vehicles sold in the U.S. were assembled by their North American operations.
Matthew Somerville recently joined the Business Development team as Eckhart's Account Manager for Controls, Robotics & Automation. He has 10 years of combined experience in robotics and industrial manufacturing. Matthew is passionate about customer relationships & has a strong technical background, having hands-on experience in robotic programming, proposal development, and creating 3D simulation's for complex robotic applications. His role at Eckhart involves directly interacting with both current and new customers to develop custom solutions and introduce Eckhart's capabilities within the robotics, controls and automation sector.
Matthew is proud to have served in the United States Marine Corps as a Scout Sniper Assistant Team Leader. He and his wife used to enjoy traveling, but now they are proud parents of a 3 month old son.
